Therapy for children and teens
Dr. Henderson works with children, teens and young adults ages 3 to 20. He’s good at connecting with kids who are hard to reach, and he works closely with parents on clear goals for behavior and family relationships.
His main approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Sessions mix talk therapy, play therapy, role play and skills practice. Homework and handouts keep things moving between visits.
Common reasons families reach out
- Anxiety, including social, generalized and separation anxiety
- Depression and other mood concerns
- ADHD
- Autism
- Oppositional or explosive behavior, including ODD, DMDD and intermittent explosive disorder
- Trauma, including PTSD and complex PTSD
- Phobias

Family therapy
Some problems are easier to solve with the whole family in the room. Dr. Henderson uses Structural Family Therapy to help families change the patterns that keep conflict going.
For parents and children with a history of trauma, he uses ARC (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency), a trauma framework that brings children and caregivers into the work together.
Evaluations and consultation
Along with therapy, Dr. Henderson provides psychological evaluations:
- Autism evaluations, including the ADOS-2
- ADHD evaluations
- Guardianship evaluations and certifications
- Pre-bariatric surgery psychological evaluations
He also consults on IEP and 504 planning, and offers clinical supervision for clinicians.
